Along the 5-6 mile stretch of Magazine Street, you’ll find boutiques and gift shops, as well as food and beverages stands along the street.

St. Patrick’s Day 2013 in New Orleans

Oh, the music in the air!
An’ the joy that’s ivrywhere -
Shure, the whole blue vault of heaven is wan grand triumphal arch,
An’ the earth below is gay
Wid its tender green th’-day,
Fur the whole world is Irish on the Seventeenth o’ March!
~Thomas Augustin Daly

New Orleans will be Irish for St. Patrick’s Day too, and we can’t wait to begin the celebration!  Let 1896 O’Malley House be your home-base as you explore the various things to do on this luck-filled weekend.  In typical NOLA fashion, we will commemorate this holiday with parades…be sure to check out one of the following:

See New Orleans: St. Patrick’s Day for more information about St. Patrick’s Day in New Orleans, parades and block parties.

After the parades, visit a local Irish Pub for some green beer and some delicious Pub Food.

Right around the corner from our inn, you’ll find Finn McCool’s Irish Pub, our personal favorite.  They were voted the Best Neighborhood Bar In New Orleans in Gambit Weekly, and for good reason!  In addition to a great and welcoming atmosphere, Finn McCool’s is the place to catch a game of European Football (in addition to other sports).  Refresh with delicious food and amazing drinks!

Try Molly’s at the Market, a popular hangout that is ready for some Irish inspired festivities!  Reserve your space to ride in our parade, or just watch it and enjoy some green beer or your favorite Irish refreshment afterward.

Parisol’s Bar & Restaurant will be hosting a 3-day St. Patrick’s Day Block Party!  Bring your friends or meet new ones at this exciting celebration, and enjoy delicious food and drinks together!

Enjoy some traditional Irish classics such as Shepherd’s Pie, Guinness Beef Stew, Bangers and Mash, and Corned Beef (of course) at The Irish House by Chef Matt Murphy, an Irish Gastropub specializing in “high-quality food.”  The Irish House even offers a gluten-free menu.   Select your beverage of choice from a variety of beers, then into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with the Crescent City Celtic Band on March 17 at 7-10 pm.

With all of the choices available for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration – you only have one choice to make for a place to stay!  1896 O’Malley House is the perfect location to return to after a parade, block party, or pub visit.  We offer cozy accommodations in a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for resting after a busy day of parties.

And now – a final Irish Blessing:

May those who love us, love us; and those who don’t love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He doesn’t turn their harts, may he turn their ankles so we’ll know them by their limping.
